Terms of Service

By accessing or using the Financial Janitor application and website (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Description of service

Financial Janitor is a financial tracking tool for US-based freelancers and 1099 contractors. The Service provides subscription tracking, transaction categorization, IRS Schedule C estimates, receipt scanning, and wealth projection features.

2. Not financial or tax advice

The Service provides estimates, tools, and AI-powered categorization for informational purposes only. Financial Janitor is not a registered tax preparer, CPA, financial advisor, or investment advisor. All tax calculations are estimates based on IRS Schedule C guidelines and must be confirmed with a licensed professional before filing. Wealth projections are hypothetical and do not guarantee future results.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a US resident (or US taxpayer) to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you meet these requirements.

4. Account and security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must notify us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised. We are not liable for any loss arising from unauthorized use of your account.

5. Bank connectivity

The Service uses Plaid Inc. to connect to your financial institutions. By linking a bank account, you authorize Plaid to access your transaction data on your behalf. Financial Janitor never receives or stores your bank login credentials. Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid's own terms and privacy policy.

6. AI-powered features

Certain features use Google Gemini AI (via Firebase AI Logic) to categorize transactions, scan receipts, and generate tax estimates. AI outputs may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content before acting on it. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI categorization or tax estimates.

7. Subscription and billing

Financial Janitor offers Free, Premium ($7.99/mo), and Pro ($19.99/mo) subscription tiers. Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected at the time of purchase. You may cancel at any time — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled in accordance with the applicable payment processor policies.

8. Auto-renewal

Paid subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You will receive a reminder before renewal. You may cancel online at any time through your account settings.

9. Intellectual property

The Service, including all code, design, content, and trademarks, is owned by Financial Janitor. You retain ownership of your personal financial data. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your data solely to provide the Service.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Financial Janitor shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or financial losses arising from the use of the Service, reliance on AI-generated content, or inaccurate tax estimates.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Governing law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting an update on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
